New stool, this durable, rustproof but lightweight aluminum step stool is made of die-cast aluminum and can be stacked up to save space. Nonskid foot pads prevent slipping and protect floors. The uni-body design is structurally unbreakable with a sexy and sleek look. It is used on a daily basis for either indoor or outdoor. The design intends are iconic and eye catching addition to any modern home or building project.  It is solid, elegant, and long lasting. Newstool comes in either plating, hand polished aluminum which is shiny, or powder coated in various colors. Newstool also uses 80% recyclable aluminum which makes these stools environmentally friendly.  Also, one must look at lifetime costing, which aluminum Newstool has a lifespan of 30 years or more, making it a sound investment and great for the environment.

Community parks ought to be a safe place for kids to play after school. Unfortunately, we often see drunk or homeless people occupying the park benches as bunks. Instead of going to a shelter, they rather sleep on the benches because it it very convenient…

The concept of the Vertical Bench callenges the perception of a public bench should be equally comfortable as a sofa at home. By carefully observing how the general public interacts with park benches, I rethink their usage pattern and then turn the seat 90 degree. It has fixed the problem of being a bunk, The cut outs on the Vertical Bench give a little bounch for additional comfort.

一般的社区公园应该是个可以让小孩放学后玩耍的安全舒适的地方，可惜的是我们经常可以看到醉汉或流浪汉躺在公园椅子或板凳上休憩，因为这些椅子或板凳方便舒适，所以他们可以在公园里待上许久。

立式长板凳颠覆了一般舒适的公园座椅的概念。在仔细观察人们与公园座椅互动的情形后，Carl从新思考这类产品的使用模式，从而把座椅旋转90度，这样不但提供了坐的功能，而且也可避免了人们不论是坐或躺的长期占用。此外，板凳上镂空的孔提供了而外的弹性。

Tokyo Designers’ Week is one of the largest design event in Asia. After designing Carl’s own products for a while, it’s a good chance to present it to the public to listen to the feedback. Carl bought around 11 products and 2 published books there. Since the visitors were from worldwide, it’s a great chance to listen to the opinions of people from different culture background. One of the interesting things was it’s first time to have the designer to present in this event from China.

The first photo shows Carl demonstrated the bike stool to the visitors and some reporters were taking a photo. The second photo shows Carl’s booth and the some of the products.

东京设计师周是亚洲设计盛会之一，也是设计师和大众分享设计作品的好机会。Carl近几年来致力于开发生活用品包括家具，他就利用了这次机会将他部分成果展现出来，听取来自世界各地的参观者的反馈，也和设计师及同好交流。这次Carl共展出11件作品和2本著作. 在这会上有相当多的学习，包括亲自聆听到不同文化背景的人对设计作品相异的评价。大会主办方表示Carl是第一位从中国来设展的设计师。

To contribute some good design products for EXPO Shanghai 2010, the Shanghai industrial designers volunteered to work on the products to show Shanghai characters, and present them in a public event ‘Shine Shanghai’ in October 2009 before the EXPO. There are about 20+ designers to show 40+ products. Decides, assigned as a design supervisor, Carl was one of the designers, and he produced 4 products: Shanghai Calculator, Shanghai Breeze, Fortune and Peace.

基于为2010年上海世博提供更优质的设计产品，上海工业设计师自发性地设计具有上海特色的产品, 并于2009年10月以‘晒’上海为主题展出。参与活动的设计师共有20多位，共设计出40多样产品。Carl除了被邀请为设计督导外，他也积极参与此活动并提供出4件设计作品，作品名称为上海人精明计算器，上海微风，财源滚滚和岁岁平安。

上海人精明计算器体现出上海人在买卖时精明机灵’不吃亏’特质，计算器有红绿前后两侧，红的一侧有个大大的减号，表示上海人购物时尽量减低金钱支出，可是作为卖方时又使用绿色的加号，为自己争取最大的经济收入。

白色瓷器’岁岁平安’为数个小元宝加上一个大元宝，设计的想法是在传统中国春节时，物品摔破是极为不祥的征兆，大多数长辈见到此景，都会马上说’岁岁平安’，表示打坏物品换来平安。Carl将此习俗扩展到日常生活，大的元宝作为保存，小的数个元宝用来摔破去霉运，以求好运到。

另一个为财源滚滚，元宝中间的球代表上海被水环绕即东方明珠，而由于球可以以手指滚动，以手指滚动中间的球以求财源滚滚。

Taiwan designers’ week is an annual contemporary design event for designers to present their design creation to the public. After 2008 topic ‘Wall’, Carl attended the event again in 2009 for ‘Rain‘ show, and presented Cumulus and Planto together with other 34 designers from Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, and Malaysia. More details

It has been a long journey since I naively dreamed about having my own brand and production products.
I often work till dawn pursuing my little ego after my regular day job. In recent years, I have managed to come out with quite a few production-ready products. 我一直梦想着有我自己品牌的产品，一路走来有苦有甜。除了白天的设计公司工作，接客户的设计订单，晚上回家后就是我最开心的时光，因为我可以自由自主的创作设计，开发一些完全体现我个人风格的产品，虽然经常工作到半夜二，三点，可是有着理想支持着，我不觉得累。现在慢慢有一些可以生产的产品了，着节节高衣架是第一批，它有着文人傲骨，也象征着节节攀升的运气。不用时枝节可以收起，需要用时将它们轻轻一拨即可挂衣帽。每一节可拆装成箱，运送方便。
